Released by Ricoh in 1994, the LX-55W is a tough, splash-proof point-and-shoot built to keep shooting when the weather turns. That makes it a great companion for beaches, festivals, hiking, boat trips and rainy city days. It’s also a brilliant first film camera, as there’s nothing to set: just point and shoot.

The camera has a sharp Ricoh 34mm glass lens with a fixed-focus design, so everything from a few feet away to the horizon stays in focus. Automatic exposure, automatic film handling and a built-in flash with red-eye reduction take care of the rest. For something a little different, the switchable panorama mode gives you wide, cinematic shots at the flick of a switch. A sliding cover protects the lens when the camera is off.
