These terms apply to all purchases from Cameras By Oscar and to any repair or servicing work. By placing an order or booking a repair, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully. If you have any questions, contact me at camerasbyoscar@yahoo.com.

1. About me

Cameras By Oscar is run by Oscar Stanley, a professional camera servicer based in Ely, United Kingdom.

2. The products I sell

Most of the cameras, lenses and accessories I sell are second-hand and vintage, often 30 to 60 years old. Each item is described as accurately as possible, including its cosmetic condition and any known faults, dents or marks. Photos form part of the description, so please look at them carefully.

Cameras are cleaned, serviced and tested before they are listed. Testing includes checking shutter speeds on a shutter speed tester and putting a test roll of film through the camera. Because these are old mechanical items, small variations from modern specifications are normal and are not considered a fault.

3. Prices and payment

All prices are shown in pounds sterling (GBP). Payment is taken in full when you place your order. I reserve the right to correct pricing errors. If an item has been listed at the wrong price, I will contact you before dispatch and you can choose to pay the correct price or cancel for a full refund.

4. Orders

Your order is an offer to buy. A contract is formed when I confirm that your order has been dispatched. Most items are one-offs, so if an item sells out before your order is processed I will refund you in full.

5. Delivery

Items are carefully packed and posted to the address you give at checkout. Delivery times are estimates and are not guaranteed. Risk in the goods passes to you once they are delivered. If your parcel arrives damaged, please keep all packaging and contact me as soon as possible.

6. Your right to cancel

If you are a consumer, you have the right to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving it without giving a reason, under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. To cancel, contact me at camerasbyoscar@yahoo.com within that period. You must then return the item within 14 days of telling me, in the same condition you received it. Unless the item is faulty or not as described, you are responsible for the cost of returning it. I will refund the price of the item and the standard delivery cost within 14 days of receiving it back. I may reduce the refund if the item has been handled more than necessary to check it, or damaged.

7. Faulty items

Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are not affected. If an item is faulty or not as described, contact me and I will arrange a repair, replacement or refund as appropriate. When assessing faults, the age and described condition of second-hand items are taken into account. This does not cover damage caused by misuse, accidents, battery leakage or normal wear after delivery.

8. Repairs and servicing

Repair enquiries can be made through the repair form on this website. Any quote I give is based on the information you provide and may change once I have inspected the camera. I will always contact you before carrying out extra work that would increase the cost. Some faults cannot be repaired economically, and parts for old cameras are not always available. Customers are responsible for the cost of sending items to me.

9. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Otherwise, I am not liable for losses that were not foreseeable, or for business losses. My total liability for any order is limited to the price paid for that order.

10. Your information

Personal information you provide is used to process your order or enquiry, as described in the Privacy Policy.

11. Changes to these terms

I may update these terms from time to time. The version shown on this website when you place your order is the one that applies.

12. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
